Byw’n Iach has received the Insport Silver accreditation!

This accreditation is awarded by Disability Sport Wales.

To achieve the Silver standard, we submitted evidence highlighting that we are developing inclusive opportunities across our leisure and sports provision throughout Gwynedd.

This recognition highlights that Byw’n Iach successfully ensures inclusion is naturally embedded at every stage of the company’s work, showcasing the inclusive culture present across leisure centres, community hubs, and all activities we are involved with across the county.

Byw’n Iach has prioritised disability as one of its key focus areas within the Gwynedd Children and Young People’s Plan for 2025-26. With 96 staff members accessing Disability Inclusion Training, along with awareness training on autism, inclusive marketing, and Makaton, significant changes have been made to specific programmes offered across the county.

These are just some of the many areas highlighted in this year’s submission, with priority also being placed on developing relationships with inclusive clubs and collecting data across the county.

Here’s what the Panel had to say:

“There is clear evidence of work being carried out through the organisation’s workforce, with clarity in driving inclusion across the business—from senior management to frontline staff engaging with residents. The panel strongly believes that with clear direction and sustained momentum, Byw’n Iach has the potential to become a leader in this field, making a deep and lasting impact on the residents of Gwynedd.”

A spokesperson for Byw’n Iach said:

“It was fantastic to receive the news that our hard work has resulted in achieving the Silver award. The report highlights several positive points that show the progress we have made in our provision since applying for and successfully obtaining the Bronze award. We will continue to develop and review our inclusive provision, and in doing so, we are committed to striving for the Gold Award.”
